The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston partnered with the Special Needs Santa Goodwill Tour and the Chattooga Gymnastics Team based in Georgia, USA, to host its annual Christmas treat at the Shell Bandstand, Hope Gardens.

The club decided to make this year's treat extra special by ensuring that approximately 100 special-needs children also enjoyed the entertainment, gifts and activities, along with 300 other children from schools and children's homes located mainly in inner-city communities.

The Special Needs Santa Goodwill Tour was formed in 1985 and believes that children and adults with disabilities do not always need to be the recipients of charity, but that they, too, can give back to their communities. The group, which includes children with Down's syndrome, brain tumours and other developmental challenges, welcomed the chance to entertain the children.
