Incensed by LIME, JPS
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am writing because I am very frustrated and I am at my wits' end. I am a resident of Thompson Pen Lane, Old Harbour Bay PO, St Catherine, and I am meeting hell with utility companies, the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) and LIME.
For approximately three years, we have not had any light on a street lamp opposite my front entrance. It is utterly dark. Persons have been robbed as recently as last weekend.
We are tired of reporting this to JPS and all we are told is that persons continue to steal light from the pole and so JPS had to disconnect the electricity.
Is it right that legitimate customers are held to ransom with their lives constantly at risk? We get home late at night from work and are constantly at the mercy of gunmen. We need help!
As it relates to LIME, I had landline and Internet. From June 2014, I have had no service. After numerous calls to LIME, I was told that the cables were stolen and they were sourcing same. Calls to their customer service is like living hell; the foreign persons they have are hopeless and useless.
In September 2014, after not getting anywhere, I went into the LIME office in Kingston and was told that for them to even entertain a discussion with me about my service or lack thereof, I would have to pay a bill of more than $8,000 which I did. I was told that service would be restored within five days. Needless to say, I still have no service.
Over time, I called again, only to be told this time that the cables had been stolen and LIME did not know when I would get back service.
I again called on Friday, January 30, 2015, only to be told that I was disconnected for non-payment of bill. Can you believe this? I have had no service from June 2014, but am still accumulating a bill!
Is there no end to these atrocities? In these modern times, people are without access to landline and Internet service!
