Digicel honouring reggae icon's life and work
"Live for yourself and you'll live in vain; live for others, you will live again."
- Bob Marley
Thirty-four years after his passing, the legacy of the legendary reggae icon Bob Marley still lives on.
The original 'rebel with a cause', Robert Nesta Marley is one of the forerunners in social commentary, using his simple but profound lyrics and music to bring light to issues surrounding black history and the socio-political ills faced by his countrymen.
Bob Marley's message did not stop there, however. His song One Love transcended the barriers of race, time, class and creed to become recognised as BBC's Song of the Millennium.
To date, he remains one of Jamaica's greatest cultural ambassadors, inspiring the world with his style of reggae music and philosophy of life.
As a Jamaican company, we know the value of our cultural heritage. That is why, on the 70th anniversary of Bob Marley's birth, Digicel is proud and excited to once again play a major role in honouring his life and work.
The Redemption Live free concert being held at the downtown Kingston waterfront on Saturday, February 7, is just one of the ways in which Digicel will make this happen.
Bringing together top local and international acts, including the Marley sons, and the wider public, is a great way of celebrating his life, through music, and experiencing his legacy living on as a source of inspiration for all.
