A man who appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for wounding a minor has been ordered to begin paying $500,000 in restitution by March 6, when he is expected to return before the court.
Dwayne Sinclair had previously faced the court on the charge of unlawful wounding, in which it was alleged that he attacked and injured the male complainant, resulting in a scar to the boy's face. The date when the incident reportedly took place and the circumstances behind the incident were not disclosed.
The complainant's mother, who was present in court on Tuesday, presented a medical certificate to presiding magistrate Carolyn Tie outlining the figures for her son's injuries.
"They are requesting half a million dollars (in restitution). What are you saying to that?" Tie asked Sinclair after reading the medical report.
"I am just asking for some time," Sinclair replied.
"I will give you one month to come up with one third of the money," said Tie, before extending Sinclair's bail to March 6.
