Laughter and learning for Poetry in Motion
Now in its 12th year, Yasus Afari is promoting laughter and learning for this year's Poetry in Motion, set to take place later this month.
On February 22, the event will celebrate 12 years when it is held at the Manchester Golf Club in Mandeville.
For this staging, the line-up includes the likes of Mutabaruka, Pam Hall, Dr Michael Abrahams, Dufton Shepherd, Yasus Afari, Jean Breeze, Kellie Magnus, Randy McLaren, Annmarie Wilmot, Marcel 'Ahmdeep' Allen, Gervanna Stephenson, Georgia Allen, Charmaine Gooden-Monteith, and Sankofa Fashions.
"Poetry in Motion will present the very best of the well-established performers and literary artistes, as well as aspiring talents from the length and breadth of Jamaica," Afari said in a press release that was sent to The Gleaner.
"What is uniquely special and very different about Poetry in Motion is that it presents the entire spectrum of the creative arts in music, dance, comedy, storytelling, fashion and poetry,"he added.
Afari boasts that the event, which is held during Black History Month, is now "a signature calendar event of Mandeville and its prestigious Golf Club, providing clean intelligent fun for the entire family and community".
For this staging, he says, he is pleased to once again help someone in need.
"Over the years, Poetry in Motion has assisted numerous charities with monetary donations at each annual staging. The patron's charity, Gilbert and Georgia Allen Educational Trust, is our designated PiM 2015 charity," he said.
