Denyque anticipates hosting Beauty and Barber Expo

Singer Denyque will be the host of the inaugural JN Small Business Loans Barber and Beauty Expo at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston, on Sunday, while DJ Cyrus from FAME FM will be providing recorded music for the day.

The expo emerged from a suggestion by Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) general manager, Earl Jarrett, who said that during a conversation with a barber, it was suggested that barbers and hairdressers needed an opportunity to showcase their craft. Research on the industry supports this view and has also shown that many barbers and hairdressers are unaware of the opportunities available to them, such as JN Small Business loans, to expand their businesses.

Denyque is looking forward to hosting the expo.

"I've been attending JN events for awhile now and I have always loved the vibes that are brought to the events. When I was asked, I did not hesitate to say yes," she said.

Although it will be her first time hosting an event of this nature, the singer is looking forward to the challenge.

"Seeing that there will be a barber and beauty competition on the day as well, I will be bringing some enthusiasm to make the event and day as lively as possible. I just want the people who are attending to enjoy themselves," she said.

Chairman of the Barber and Beauty Expo Planning Committee, Jason McNeish, said the event has been tailored for persons who want to learn about the barber and beauty industry, as well as those who work in the sector.

"We know there are persons who are eager to learn about the industry, and so we have brought in an international stylist who will provide tips on beauty and grooming. We also want them to enjoy the different challenges that the barbers and hairdressers will be undertaking, so feel free to come out and cheer on your favorite barber and hairdresser," he said.
