Ocho Rios student killed

The Ocho Rios police in St. Ann were up to last night questioning the driver of a car, which killed a female student of the Ocho Rios High school yesterday.

Shaneka Campbell, 13, of Great Pond in the parish, was killed after a Caldina fielder motorcar along Milford Road hit her.

The police said around 5.10 p.m. yesterday, Shaneka was playing with friends on the way home from school when she jumped into the path of the vehicle.

According to the police, Shaneka was flung several meters and sustained serious head injuries.

The driver of the car rushed her to the St. Annís Bay hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
