Popular dancehall entertainer Elephant Man was this morning granted bail in the sum of $400,000 with surety.

Elephant Man, whose real name is Oneil Bryan, was arrested on Monday and charged with grievous sexual assault and rape.

He is scheduled to reappear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on May 24 for a preliminary hearing.

The bail application was made by attorney-at-law Linda Wright.

The police said the charges stem from an incident at Elephant’s St. Andrew home earlier this month.

Investigators said a woman filed a police report claiming that the artiste sexually assaulted her.

Following investigations, Elephant Man was taken into custody.

The artiste is also before the court for allegedly stealing electricity.
