Two men are now in police custody following the seizure of about 1,000 pounds of compressed ganja in St. Elizabeth last night.

The police say the parcels of ganja were discovered during an operation along the Lacovia main road.

The contraband was found during a search of a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle and his passenger were arrested.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Falmouth Police said they seized four homemade firearms and two 12-guage cartridges during an operation, at Zion in Martha Brae, Trelawny yesterday.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.
