Parish council employee charged for fraud

An employee, attached to the Spanish Town Infirmary, who reportedly collected money to provide Food for the Poor houses, has been arrested on fraud charges.


She is 42-year-old Marcia Douglas of Jericho District in St Catherine.

Itís understood that in December last year the woman approached persons in St. Catherine telling them she could secure houses for them.

It is reported that she solicited $40,000 from each person and promised the houses would be delivered on Christmas Day.

A report was made to the Ewarton police after the houses were not handed over.

An investigation was launched into the matter and the accused was held by the police.

Itís understood that she has been charged with four counts of obtaining money by means of false pretence.
