Alleged lottery scammers to be charged

Several persons believed to be major players in the Montego Bay lottery scam are to be interviewed by detectives in St. James this week.

The police say they intend to press charges against the suspects.

On the weekend, the Area One Police arrested 22 persons during an intense operation which took them to eight communities.

The police said three of those arrested have been implicated in cases where statements were given by victims in the United States, who were fleeced in the lottery scam.

They say during the operation they seized 16 high-end vehicles and over $800,000 including US Currency.

The police said several computers, flat screen televisions and other household electronics and a about a pound of ganja were also seized.
