The attorney general Patrick Atkinson says it's too early to comment on yesterday’s multi-million dollar libel award against the Government and former Police Commissioner Francis Forbes.
Atkinson who was appointed Attorney General earlier this year, says he has not yet read the case file.
Yesterday, a Supreme Court jury ruled that comments made by Forbes about Clunie in 2002 and repeated in 2005 were defamatory.
CVM Television, which had broadcast the comments made by Forbes during its interview programme IMPACT, was exonerated.
Clunie had taken the matter to court claiming damages against Former Commissioner Forbes and the Attorney General’s Office.
The defamatory comments related to allegations surrounding a major drug-trafficking and wire-tapping investigation that was being undertaken by the police.
Clunie was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing during a departmental trial presided over by retired High Court Judge, Justice Martin Wright.
Meanwhile, Clunie said he always had confidence that the justice system would have worked.
