Falmouth mayor calls for security at pier

Published: Saturday March 31, 2012 | 6:29 pm with audio | Comments 0

Newly-installed Mayor of Falmouth Garth Wilkinson is urging the government to quickly install some form of protective measure along the eastern and western sides of the new cruise ship pier.

Mr Wilkinson, who took over as Mayor following Monday’s local government elections, says from the start of the construction, not enough protective measures were put in place on both side of the pier.

He says failure to address the issue could contribute to the degradation of the coastline and expose residents to injuries and property damage in the event of heavy rains.
