A police Constable was shot and injured this morning after heavily-armed gunmen reportedly opened fire on a police patrol along Spanish Town Road in Kingston.
The Constable’s name has not been released, but Director of Communications for the Jamaica Constabulary Force Karl Angell says he is being treated at hospital.
Mr Angell says a total of 60 spent shells fired from high-powered weapons were recovered at the scene.
Reports are that the police team was on patrol in the area when they signaled the driver of a Toyota motor vehicle to stop.
The police say the driver complied with the order before he and three other occupants emerged from the vehicle and opened fire on the lawmen.
