The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has moved to clarify the charges which have been preferred in the shooting of Kool 97FM broadcaster, Jody Ann Gray.

Late Friday evening, the Constabulary Communication Network issued a release saying Gray’s co-worker Wayne Whyte, 44, and his alleged crony Safari Farr, have been charged with shooting with intent, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

But the DPP Paula Llewellyn says Whyte and Farr have been charged with wounding with intent, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

She says where the complainant has been injured a charge of shooting with intent would not be appropriate.

Shooting with intent would have been appropriate if the complainant was not hit.

However, both offences carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Whyte and Farr are to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Gray, who is seven months pregnant, was shot two Wednesdays ago as she arrived home in Cedar Grove, Portmore, St Catherine.

Whyte, Farr and a third man were held by the police near the scene minutes after the shooting.

The third man is still in custody being questioned.
