Member of Parliament for West Kingston, Desmond Mckenzie, was prevented from speaking in Parliament on the issue surrounding the use of a representation of the Jamaican flag in which the colour green was omitted.

McKenzie had risen to speak on the matter at the adjournment of this afternoon’s sitting.

However, he was stopped by leader of government business, Phillip Paulwell, who said Mckenzie should have given notice he planned to raise the issue.

There has been much public outcry after the colour green was left out of a backdrop representing the National Flag at the recent swearing in ceremony of the mayor of Montego Bay.

Green is the colour used by the opposition Jamaica Labour Party as the party’s colour.
