The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), is appealing for persons to come forward with information about yesterday’s shooting deaths of two men by the police in Salts Spring, St. James.

INDECOM is probing the deaths of Kemar Eribert and another man, who is yet to be identified.

The two were killed in an alleged shoot out in the Gopiece community.

It is reported that a joint police-military team was in the area conducting routine checks when the members came upon an unfinished house.

It is further reported that upon entering the structure, two men were seen and one of the men reached for a gun and opened fire.

A gun battle then reportedly ensued and when the shooting subsided, the two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were later pronounced dead.

The police say they recovered two guns and ammunition from the scene.

INDECOM said the crime scene was processed by its Forensics team.

It said the hands of the security personnel as well as that of the deceased have been swabbed.
