Jamaica’s Usain Bolt says he could have run a faster race to mark his first individual event of the season at the JN Jamaica International Invitational World Challenge meet in Kingston this evening.
Bolt finished ahead of the field in 9.82 seconds in a race that was called back twice.
The second time was because of a false start by Trinidad and Tobago’s Richard Thompson.
It is not clear why the race was called back at first.
“The false start may have thrown me off,” Bolt told reporters after the race.
He also said he is in better shape now than he was at the similar point last season.
“I’ll continue to work on my weaknesses and work at my strengths too,” said Bolt, adding that his starts have improved.
Bolt also addressed expectations for the London Olympics reiterating that another world record run would be great.
“People are looking to 9.4 it would be great looking to a legend status” he said.
