The Foreign Affairs Ministry is reporting that 10 Jamaican men have gone missing after leaving The Bahamas for Miami by way of a boat.

The Ministry has enlisted the assistance of agencies here and overseas as it tries to locate the men.

The ministry says it has been contacted by family members of five of the men seeking support in locating their relatives.

The men had travelled to The Bahamas in late February and March.

They reportedly set out on a boat from Freeport in The Bahamas, for Miami, Florida on March 9.

And the ministry says the relatives say they have received no word from the men since the date they were alleged to have gone on the boat trip.

The ministry says assistance has been sought through the Jamaican Consulate in The Bahamas and the Jamaican Consulate General in Miami as well as the local police.

It says family members have also sought assistance from these entities, but to date investigations have revealed no boating accident involving the men.

There is also no record of the men being detained in The Bahamas or the United States.

The ministry is now appealing to anyone with information regarding the matter to contact the Diaspora and Consular Affairs Department.
