Former head of the Northern Caribbean University (NCU), Dr. Herbert Thompson, has been appointed the new chancellor of the University College of the Caribbean (UCC).

He will replace former Governor General, Sir Kenneth Hall who demitted office earlier this month.

Dr. Thompson resigned as president of Northern Caribbean University last June after 20 years in the post.

His resignation from NCU was shrouded in controversy with several reasons put forward for his sudden departure from the university.

However, Dr. Thompson maintained that he resigned because he did not have the support of the chairman of the board.
