Autopsy released in killing of Florida teen

There are reports that a post-mortem examination has shown that Trayvon Martin, the unarmed Florida teen, who was shot and killed by a neighbourhood watch volunteer, had injury marks on his knuckles at the time he was shot.

Attorney-at-law Benjamin Crump, who is representing Martin’s parents, told CNN the finding was not a surprise, claiming that the teenager was fighting for his life.

The accused, George Zimmerman, was not arrested until six weeks after the February 26 shooting incident.

Zimmerman has maintained his innocence, claiming that he shot the teenager in self-defence after he attacked him.

He has been released on $150,000 bail.

A separate report released yesterday claimed Zimmerman had a pair of black eyes, a fractured nose and cuts to his head, when he was examined by family doctors shortly after the incident.
