The Ministry of Foreign Affairs now says it appears that something went wrong on the boat that was transporting 10 Jamaicans from The Bahamas to the United States nearly two months ago.

This, according to a senior official at the ministry who insists that the incident is still being treated as a missing person report.

However residents in one St Andrew community where two of the men are from say they were robbed and killed at sea.

The foreign ministry says seven of the men have already been identified by family members who have come forward to file reports.

According to the official, the ministry has made contact with its partners and diplomatic missions in The Bahamas, Cuba and the US in an attempt to get an official report on the incident.

In the meantime, the ministry says it continues to request that family members who believe that their loved ones may have been on the vessel and anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
