Four men charged with the theft of 20 bags of oranges were sentenced in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

They are Anthony Buchanan, Dwayne Coburn, Junior Wright and Lester Davis all of Linstead, St Catherine.

Wright and Coburn were sentenced to two years hard labour, while Davis was fined $80,000 or 12 months and Buchanan was given a 12-month suspended sentence.

The Crown led evidence that on October 5 last year, members of the Island Special Constabulary Force were on duty in Redwood District when they stopped a vehicle being driven by Davis.

A search of the vehicle revealed the oranges, which were later determined to have been stolen.

The men were then charged for praedial larceny.
