A series of curfews is now under way in several communities across eight police divisions.

The curfews cover the divisions of Kingston Eastern, St Andrew North, St Andrew Central, St Catherine North and South, St James, Westmoreland and Hanover.

Two of the areas covered by the curfew imposed in the Kingston Eastern Division are Crusha Heights and Rockfort, which have seen a spate of murders in recent weeks.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Glenmore Hinds says the curfews are part of an attempt to restrict the movement of criminals.
