Entertainer Sheldon "Deva Brat" Smith was granted bail yesterday, when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on assault charges.

When the matter was called up, a lawyer representing the 32-year-old artiste said his client is not a flight-risk.

Bail was subsequently granted in the sum of $150,000.

Devra Bratt was also ordered to report to the Waterford police.

However, his lawyer said that his client has a busy schedule and is due to tour Germany for a month.

As a result his reporting condition will begin on July 12.

He was warned to avoid any contact with the complainant in the case.

The artiste is scheduled to reappear in court in August, to answer to the charges of indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was charged by the St. Catherine South police on Friday, after a report of attempted sexual assault was made against him.

Devra Bratt was charged in May 2008 of similar charges.

However, he was freed in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on November 16 last year.
