WESTERN BUREAU: The case of murdered British consul John Terry is to be mentioned in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on July 16, as the prime suspect is currently before another court on separate charges.

Twenty-four-year-old Richard Ewen, should have gone on trial for the diplomat’s murder today after the proceedings were rescheduled from Monday.

The matter was put off because Ewen failed to appear in court.

Today, it was revealed that Ewen’s absence was because he was in custody at the Central Police Station in Kingston on unrelated charges of robbery and illegal possession of firearm.

It was also disclosed that he is to appear before the Home Circuit Court to answer to those charges on July 11.

Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small then set the matter for mention on July 16, and gave instructions that arrangements should be made to have Ewen transported to the Montego Bay RM Court at that time.

John Terry was found dead at his home in Mount Carey, St. James on September 10, 2009.
