The government in Mexico has admitted that it mistakenly identified a detained man as the son of the country's most-wanted drugs lord, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.
On Thursday law enforcement officials in Mexico paraded the man before the media saying he was Jesus Alfredo Guzman, whose father leads the powerful Sinaloa cartel.
Mexican authorities also hailed the arrest as one of the most important in years.
But the Attorney Generalís Office announced yesterday that the man was in fact Felix Beltran Leon, who is employed as a car salesman.
Joaquin Guzman has been in hiding since he escaped from prison in 2001.
His Sinaloa cartel controls much of the flow of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine to the United States.
