BARCELONA, Spain:
Fedrick Dacres struck gold for Jamaica at the 14th IAAF World Junior Championships on today’s third day of action at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium, after throwing a new personal best to win the discus final.

Dacres, who last year won at the IAAF World Youth Championships held in Lille, France, threw 62.80 metres with his third attempt.

The previous personal best of the 18-year-old was 61.55 metres, achieved during last month’s junior trials.

“I feel really great….I came here kind of off, but I pulled off a big PB,” Dacres said.
