UPDATE: Medical doctor, mom on abortion charges

Medical doctor Lloyd Goldson, who is on abortion, charges has been granted bail.

Goldson has been granted staion bail in the sum of $150,000 with surety and is to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on July 18.

Yesterday, detectives from the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) arrested Goldson and the mother of a 12-year-old girl for procuring abortion.

The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday, July 4.

Goldson, who is from Hope Pastures, Kingston 6, was charged for procuring abortion and administering drug to procure abortion.

The 32-year-old mother of the child is also charged with procuring abortion as well as cruelty to a child and failure to make a report to the Childrenís Registry.

Itís reported that about 3:30 p.m., the woman took her daughter, who was four months pregnant, to Goldsonís office who then performed the operation.

The matter was later brought to the attention of the police, who went to the motherís home.

The police brought the child to CISOCA then to the Kingston Public Hospital, after she reported that she was in pain.
