Porter breaks long jump junior record but misses medal

BARCELONA, Spain:
Chanice Porter jumped a national Junior record of 6.58 metres with her fourth attempt , but finished outside of the medals as she placed fourth in the finals of the women’s long jump on the fourth day of the 14th IAAF World Junior Championships.


The previous national junior record of 6.53 metres was set by Nolle Graham at Durham, North Carolina back in June, 2000.

The 2011 World Youth Championships gold medal winner came into the championships with her personal best in the long jump being 6.52 metres.

She will on Sunday contest the final of the high jump at 12.55 pm having booked her place with a clearance of 1.82 in the qualification round.
