The Manchester police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of retired Superintendent Excel Dias.

The 76-year-old retired senior cop was found by neighbours in his garage at his home in Kyle District, Spaldings, Clarendon on June 19. He had multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to the Percy Junor Hospital in Manchester where he succumbed to his injuries, while undergoing treatment.

Mr Dias’ Honda Accord motor car, which was taken from his home, was later found at the back gate of the Kirkvine bauxite plant in Manchester on the morning after his murder.

He had served the Jamaica Constabulary Force for 35 years in the parishes of Clarendon and Manchester.

Police say the murder suspect, who was picked up yesterday, is to questioned later this week when he acquires an attorney.

Meanwhile, the Manchester police say Tareek Brightly, who was named as a person of interest has turned himself over to the police.

Brightly is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of his cousin Sylvester Martin in Harmons District, Manchester on July 13.

He is also to be questioned by investigators later this week.
