Jamaica's star athletes entered the London Olympic stadium to deafening cheers this evening for the opening of the 30th Olympiad.

Gleaner Photographer Ricardo Makyn was among the hundreds of photographers inside the venue to capture the sights, scenes and smiles as athletes from 205 countries paraded before The Queen, dignitaries from around the world and thousands of sporting fans.
