The Meteorological Service is reporting that Tropical Depression number 5 has developed over the Caribbean and is moving faster towards the west.

At 4.00 a.m., the centre of Tropical Depression 5 was located near Latitude 12.8 degrees north and Longitude 52.6 degrees west.

The Depression is moving toward the west near 33 km/h. A westward or west-northwestward motion at about the same forward speed is expected during the next couple of days.

The Met office said on the forecast track, the centre of Tropical Depression 5 should be near the Windward Islands on Friday.

It said that satellite pictures indicate that the depression has not become any better organised and maximum sustained winds remain near 35 mph with high gusts.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
