LONDON, England:
Former world record holder Asafa Powell is to undergo an MRI today to assess the extent of his groin injury which ruined his chances at a medal in the 100m yesterday.

Powell has been treating a niggling groin injury for several years.

Shortly before the Olympics, the injury again flared up.

In fact, just before the Jamaican Olympic trials in June, Powell flew to Miami to treat the injury.

He ran smooth races in London to advance to the finals of the 100m yesterday, but pulled up 70 metres into the race.

Powell completed the race last in 11.99.
