The Gleaner's Ricardo Makyn captured an oh-so-close finish for Jamaica's Shermaine Williams in semi-final one of the women’s 100m hurdles.

Williams clocked 12.83 seconds, the same as Austria’s Beate Schrott, but failed to advance to the final.

Only the top two athletes from each of the three semi finals automatically qualified for the big event and Williams’ time was not good enough for her to qualify as one of the fastest losers.
