Elderly man dies in collision with truck

A 62-year-old man from Mandeville, Manchester died as a result of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle collision this morning.

The Constabulary Communication Network reports that Donald Banton, who resided in the Greenvale Housing Scheme, died when the Daihatsu motor car he was driving collided with a truck along the Spur Tree main road about 1:25 a.m.

Banton was reportedly driving towards Mandeville when his car collided with the truck, which was travelling in the opposite direction. Upon impact, the police report that the truck overturned into a ditch.

Banton sustained multiple injuries and was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations continue.
