Jamaica's Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is off the island.
She’s in New York to attend a Jamaica 50 Independence Gala organised by the Jamaica Independence Celebration Foundation.
A statement from her office states that the Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change, Robert Pickersgill will act as Prime Minister in her absence.
Simpson-Miller returns to Jamaica on Sunday.
