Portland farmer killed by gunmen

A 44-year-old Portland farmer was killed by gunmen last evening, after an attack at his home in Norwich, Port Antonio in Portland.

He has been identified as Philibert McDonald.

Reports reaching The Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre are that Mr McDonald, his common law wife and niece, were pounced upon by two men as they entered their home about 8:30 yesterday evening.

It is reported that the men grabbed the females, but were warded off by Mr McDonald. The men shot him in the chest and escaped in nearby bushes.

Mr McDonald attempted to run toward his house before collapsing. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
