Security officials in Guyana today arrested eight persons following the seizure of close to 60 pounds of cocaine.

The drug was reportedly found in a checked suitcase aboard a Caribbean Airlines plane bound for New York. An official from the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU), James Singh, says the drugs were found late Saturday by authorities at the Cheddi Jagan International airport.

This is CANUís fourth major drug bust at the airport since the start of the year.
