The Independent Commission of Investigations says it is distressed and horrified by last night’s murder of detective corporal Warren Campbell.

The Commission says it condemns any act of violence against any member of the security forces and encourages the members of the public with information to help the police to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Detective Corporal Campbell was close to home in Patrick City, on foot, making his way to a popular fast food establishment when a man reportedly alighted from the vehicle and opened fire hitting him seven times.

A woman who was with him was not harmed.
