The police have charged the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash which killed a three year old child yesterday with several breaches of the Road Traffic Act.

The child, Sachin Levers was killed on the Mammee Bay main road in St. Ann yesterday morning.

The police say about 1:30 yesterday morning, the child was being transported to hospital when the Toyota motor car he was travelling in crashed into a tree.
The vehicle overturned, injuring the child and his father, who was also a passenger in the motor vehicle.

Both were taken to hospital, where Sachin was pronounced dead and his father admitted in stable condition.

The driver of the motor car has since been charged for driving without a driver’s licence, driving an unlicensed motor car, driving without insurance coverage, and driving without a valid certificate of fitness.

He was released after being issued a warning notice.

The police say investigations are continuing.
