The government of St Maarten says it will provide law enforcement authorities with every resource required as they probe the murder of two American citizens there yesterday.

Up to late afternoon, police investigators were still trying to determine the couple’s identities.

The country’s Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos says the bodies were discovered after the police were informed of a possible crime scene at the Ocean Club.

Mr Mos says both of them appeared to have sustained lethal stab wounds.

He says investigators have not yet determined a motive for the slayings, buts adds that a doctor at the crime scene found no indication of a possible sexual motive.

However, he declined to comment further, pointing out that the investigation was still ongoing.
