The ruling People's National Party (PNP) is urging the Minister of National Security to ensure the Commissioner of Police deploys every available resource to speedily investigate the rape of the 8-year-old and four of her family members.
The party says wanton violence against Jamaicaís women and girls must not be tolerated.
It says the nation is numb and devastated by what it describes as the beastly and cowardly act.
The party is calling for citizens to cooperate with the police as they investigate this crime.
And the young professional arm of the Jamaica Labour Party, Generation 2000 (G2K) is urging Jamaicans not to relent in the fight against the abuse of women.
G2K says itís concerned that the Sex Offenders Registry still has not been established and no crime bill or crime related legislation has been tabled.
It wants the Ministry of Justice to hasten the tabling of appropriate legislation to combat such crimes.
The group maintains that the issue of crime and violence is not a political one and argues there cannot be a reactionary approach.
