Taxi-operator on rape charge denied bail

The Mandeville taxi operator accused of raping a 12-year-old girl was this morning denied bail.


He’s to return to the Mandeville Resident Magistrate's Court on October 24.

The court his hoping that a medical report on the victim will be ready by that day.

The accused was pointed out in an identification parade on Friday and charged by the Mandeville police on Monday.

He was taken into custody by the police last week for allegedly carrying the girl into bushes and sexually assaulting her as he transported her home from school.

The taxi operator is reportedly the child’s godfather.
