UWI to close at 4 P.M.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) says all activities at its Mona Campus in Kingston, as well as the Western Jamaica Campus in Montego Bay will be suspended at 4.00 p.m. today, as Tropical Storm Sandy heads to Jamaica.

The university says special arrangements are also being made for resident students to remain on hall.

However, it says students who wish to leave the campus may do so once they advise the Student Services Manager of the respective hall.

Students residing on the Buccaneer Hall of residence have been relocated to the main hall of residence at the Western Jamaica Campus in Montego Bay.

The UWI says essential services and emergency operations will remain open however the Health Centre will be closed.

Persons with chronic illnesses are therefore advised to secure necessary medication as a precaution.

The Mona Information Technology Services will remain open but the UWI says operations will not be guaranteed if the electricity service is disrupted.
