New security guard minimum wage effective tomorrow

Published: Sunday November 4, 2012 | 11:41 am Comments 0

The increased minimum wage for industrial security guards is to take effect tomorrow.

The amended rates were approved by Cabinet after an error was discovered in the calculation of the increases that were first announced in July this year.

The labour ministry says the new wage for a 40-hour work week will be $7,320.50, up from $7,230.50 cents.

The new hourly rate is $183.01, while the rates for time and a half and double time work are now $274.51 cents and $366.02 respectively.

The amended rates are not retroactive.
