The Meteorological Service has continued the Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew and St Catherine until 5 o'clock this afternoon.

A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures.

They are also advised to keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.

The Met Service says a persistent trough remains across Jamaica and the central Caribbean.

Satellite images indicate that cloudy conditions throughout last night with showers across inland areas of eastern and southwestern parishes.

While the Trough lingers over Jamaica, the forecast is for outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms across most parishes especially eastern areas today into this evening.

A decrease in cloudiness with a gradual improvement in the weather is expected by Monday.
