The police say they have arrested 12 men from Burke Road in Spanish Town, who are believed to be part of the Africa Gang.

Operation Officer for the St Catherine South police division, Superintendent Clive Blair, said the men were picked up during an operation in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, during which a number of premises were searched.

The police say the Old Harbour community is responsible for the most murders in
the division and has become a haven for criminal activities.

Superintendent Blair said the police will be stepping up their operation in the Old Harbour police district.

Our news centre understands that those arrested are responsible for a number of murders and robberies in the area.
