The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), says it is working on a management plan with the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC), to address issues related to the pile up of garbage in Downtown Kingston and other business districts.
JCC President Francis Kennedy said a meeting has already been held with the KSAC to discuss measures to tackle the issue.
He is hoping that elements of the plan will be implemented by the end of next week.
In the meantime, Kennedy said he wants to see more inspectors from the KSAC and the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSMWA), monitoring the disposal of garbage especially during the Christmas season.
In the meantime, he is encouraging business operators to put measures in place to ensure the proper disposal of commercial garbage.
He said the proper disposal of garbage should not be left solely on the NSWMA.
