J'can Hibbert scores 16 points as Indiana Pacers defeat Atlanta Hawks

Jamaican Roy Hibbert scored 16 points and had eight rebounds as the Indiana Pacers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 107-90 in the first game of their National Basketball Association playoff series yesterday.

The teams will return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Wednesday for Game 2 in the best-of-seven first- round series.

Paul George led the Pacers with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists.

George Hill supported with 18 points.

For Atlanta Hawks, Jeff Teague led the way with 21 points.

Over at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Tony Parker returned to form by scoring 18 points with eight assists to lead San Antonio Spurs past the Los Angeles Lakers for a 91-79 Game 1 victory in the Western Conference.

Manu Ginobili also had 18 points, this off the bench for San Antonio.

Los Angeles Lakers, entering the playoffs without the injured Kobe Bryant, will try to even the series in Game 2 on Wednesday.
